Welcome to my website, and thank you for being interested enough to come here and visit me. As a first-time publisher, I’m new at this (I’ve never had my very own website before!) but I believe an enjoyable and enlightening experience awaits you on these pages. Herein you’ll find lots of “insider” information about the Hollywood blacklist, how it affected my family, and how my first (and so-far only) novel, The Wire Recorder, evolved from something that happened to me nearly sixty years ago—something that had nothing whatsoever to do with the blacklist, and everything to do with a girl I met one evening at weekend camp when I was barely fourteen years old.

HOW THE WIRE RECORDER GOT WRITTEN
My parents, Alfred Lewis Levitt and Helen Slote Levitt, were both called to testify before the House Un-American Activities on September 18, 1951.
THE WIRE RECORDER
SOPHIE HEARN grows up hearing about the House Committee on Un-American Activities’ hearings to root out Communists in the film industry.
I’ve put some stuff on this website I thought you might find interesting, especially if you’ve read The Wire Recorder and enjoyed it.
